I see your point. A lot to consider. Maybe at the end it does come to making arbitrary distinctions. But, for some reason I feel an almost-logical intrisnich difference between barbaric behaviour and Gauguin's. Maybe because of the point in "civilization" humans were? Not sure yet. I do wonder tho: would I not want to see the art of Van Gogh if he was the one committing the atrocity Gauguin committed? Maybe... but who knows.
