To get back to your point, I wonder if it isn’t an evolution of a problem created in the first place by reproduction. While prints preserved the form and content desired by someone (being the artist), very likely many prints do not take copyright laws or ethicality into account when just copy printing hundreds of the artists’ works reproductions. Let’s say they keep the name of the artists, and pay for a licence…in the case of small artists, how much would that be?
And so a lot of people and corporations might have stopped buying originals (even affordable originals) long time ago, as they could buy a print and frame it
