I know this is not the focal point of your story (great story btw, very important). However, it stuck with me (maybe cuz I'm white). My partner is Asian and we also openly talk about things like "this seems to be a predominantly Asian area" or white, etc...Now. We mostly know why we notice, why we talk about it (for exemp, if I ever move to the suburbs of Melbourne, I would like to be in an "Asian" area, because I feel it would be "easier" for my partner)...but I can't help but wonder if even though my partner is comfortable with me asking these questions, if I shouldn't ... dunno
