Hey Wei, hope "Medium" is treating you well and you are getting fairly compensated for this "charitable work", as you write some of the most interesting stories here. So, at the beginning I felt like some kind of genius and was going to write about about it all seemed connected to the Christian values of labour (also kind of "maternal" terms) and suffering. Ora et labora they used to say....But! Then I notice you actually have explained it very well... However, I feel that maybe the distinction made by Graeber applies to logic more than necessarily "real life" (although often it does). I do agree that we expect to be paid for something that we produce...and it does usually require some form of labour, but it does not have to be a negative or suffering experience...like in the case of creativity, pleasure (why not expect to be paid if we have "produced") or even things such as royalties and "passive income". A lot of inverted commas...P.S. I had forgotten about LTV thou, always eye opening....great story!!!
